Brane inflation and defect formation.

چکیده
Brane inflation and the production of topological defects at the end of the inflationary phase are discussed. After a description of the inflationary set-up, we discuss the properties of the cosmic strings produced at the end of inflation. Specific examples of brane inflation are described, such as D-D , D3/D7 and modular inflations.

Formation of monopoles and domain walls after brane inflation
We study cosmological defect formation induced by brane creation after brane inflation. Contrary to the previous arguments, production of monopoles and domain walls are not negligible. Monopoles and domain walls are formed by the creation of daughter branes that are extended between mother branes.

متن کاملTachyon Defect Formation and Reheating in Brane-antibrane Inflation
We study analytically the dynamical formation of lower dimensional branes at the endpoint of brane-antibrane inflation through the condensation of topological defects of the tachyon field which describes the instability of the initial state. We then use this information to quantify the efficiency of the reheating which is due to the coupling of time dependent tachyon background to massless gaug...
متن کاملBrane Decay and Defect Formation
Topological defects are generically expected to form in models of brane inflation. Braneanti-brane annihilation provides a way to gracefully end inflation, and the dynamics of the tachyon field results in defect formation. The formation of defects has been studied mainly from the brane world-volume point of view, but the defects are themselves lower-dimensional branes, and as a result they coup...
متن کاملDefect Formation with Bulk Fields
Abstract It has recently been realized that brane-antibrane annihilation (a possible explanation for ending inflation) may result in defect formation, due to the dynamics of the tachyon field. Studies of this possibility have generally ignored the interaction of the brane fields with fields in the bulk; recently it has been argued [1] that interactions with bulk fields suppress or even eliminat...
